Job summary

Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum seeks an energetic Community Education Coordinator to develop STEM programs, manage partnerships, and drive revenue for outreach initiatives. Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Create and implement dynamic STEM curriculum for diverse age groups for partner organizations.

• Serve as the main contact for partner groups, ensuring smooth day-of delivery.

• Collaborate with the Visitor Education Coordinator to ensure cohesive messaging and resource sharing across programs.
• Train, schedule, and mentor educational staff for elite off-site delivery.
• Jump onto the museum floor to assist or deliver programming during peak times.
• Assist in creating and maintaining long-term vision for community programs and partnerships.
• Attend events and festivals to promote educational offerings.

Position Summary:

The Community Education Coordinator is a dynamic, multi-faceted role combining teaching, administration, and team management. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and growing a self-sustaining educational outreach ecosystem—including large-scale in-school performances and after-school programs. As the premier public face of the museum, this high-energy coordinator represents the organization at major community and promotional events, requiring a highly flexible schedule and exceptional physical stamina.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and implement dynamic STEM curriculum for diverse age groups for partner organizations.
• Assist in the booking, confirmation, and all pre-event communication on behalf of the museum
• Work with the Director of STEM Education to meet and exceed programming revenue goals.
• Serve as the main point of contact for partner groups, running day-of educational offerings smoothly
• Design, distribute, and analyze visitor surveys to gather measurable data points, and track program success . Create monthly/quarterly reporting for museum leadership demonstrating program growth.
• Collaborate closely with the Visitor Education Coordinator to ensure cohesive messaging and resources sharing across all museum programs
• Train, schedule, and mentor educational staff to ensure elite off-site program delivery.
• Jump onto the museum floor at a moment’s notice to assist with or directly deliver programming during peak times.
• Assist the Director of STEM Education in creating, maintaining, and scaling the long-term vision for all community educational programs.
• Assist the Director of STEM Education with creating and maintaining partnerships within the community,
• Attend events and festivals to promote educational offerings held at the museum.

Preferred Qualifications & Competencies:

• 2-3 years’ experience in education, STEM, or museum studies.
• Deep knowledge of STEM concepts and educational curriculum standards across multiple age groups.
• Public speaking and presentation skills to deliver educational programming to groups and classrooms.
• Knowledge of robotics, engineering, and advances in the current technological landscape.
• A self-starter who can achieve deadlines, and capable of managing administrative logistics alongside live teaching.
• A respectful, positive team player who can motivate part-time staff and educators.
• Monday through Friday work week with the occasional weekend or evening event.

Physical Qualifications:

• Standing and walking for extended periods to engage with program participants
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive to and from partner organizations.
• Bend, stoop, and reach to prepare items for activities
• This position, at times, requires sitting for extended periods and working on a computer viewing screens
• Push or pull equipment, such as wagons and tables.
• Lift and carry items up to 20 pounds individually, 80 pounds in a group, including educational materials, art-making supplies, and cleaning products, as needed

This position is a full time hourly/benefits eligible position.
