The City of South Gate is hiring Police Officers to enforce laws, protect life and property, and engage with the community. Officers will patrol by car, bike, or on foot, investigate crimes, and maintain public order with bias-free service.

The role emphasizes community interaction and problem solving, requires a PST Basic Academy completion, and demands physical and background clearances. Applicants must be 21+ and legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent or an advanced degree.
• Graduate from a P.O.S.T. Basic Police Academy.
• Must obtain and maintain a valid Basic P.O.S.T. certificate within 18 months of hire.

Responsabilités

• Patrols assigned areas by car, foot, or motorcycle and conducts crime suppression.
• Investigates crimes, accidents, and incidents; interviews victims and witnesses.
• Regulates traffic, conducts traffic investigations, and prepares clear reports.
