Job summary

Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a full-time Cook to prepare meals for residential and day students, as well as on‑duty staff, in a trauma‑informed environment that values equity and inclusion. The role includes maintaining kitchen cleanliness and meeting daily menu requirements.

The position offers health benefits, retirement plans, tuition support, PTO and a referral bonus program, with a starting pay of at least $20 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED required.
• Some experience in quantity food production preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill menu requirements and serve meals.
• Wash pots and pans, trays, dishes, etc.
• Take out kitchen trash to outside trash bins.
• Cover, label and date all suitable leftovers for storage.
• Take and record food temperatures at mealtime.
• Maintain personal cleanliness, as well as cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas.
• Take and record refrigerator, freezer and dishwashing machine temperatures.
• Attend team meetings as required.
• Participate in required in-service training.
