About Us
MyHives is a safety-technology company building a personal safety guardian that tells the people you trust when you need them. We combine mobile technology, smart detection and connected hardware to give people protection they can rely on. We are a small, fast-moving team where interns work on real growth problems from week one and see the result of their work in the numbers.
Role Overview
We are looking for a community and content intern who is comfortable in front of people and in front of a camera. This is a hands-on growth role. You will spend your days talking to real people, creating content that gets watched, and turning conversations into activated users. You will be the person on our team who is physically in the room with the people we want to reach, so you will hear things nobody else in the company hears. Part of your job is writing those things down and bringing them back to the team. You will work closely with the Head of Growth and the wider team, with real ownership of your work rather than a pile of admin.
Key Responsibilities
Community & Ambassadors
- Reach out to and build relationships with student groups, sports clubs, hospitality and shift workers, local businesses and community organisations across New York City
- Recruit and look after a small network of ambassadors, with a personal check-in every week
- Have real conversations with prospects and partners by phone, DM and in person, and log every one in the tracker the same day
- Reply to every comment and DM on our channels within the same working day, and leave useful comments on other accounts
Content
- Plan, film, edit and publish short-form video and social content every working day
- Turn real user and ambassador stories into content people want to watch
- Write clear, honest copy that sounds like a person, not a brand
- Track what performs and what does not, and adjust
Events & Activations
- Run small in-person activations such as campus stands, pre-shift briefings at venues and club or society sessions
- Help people set up the product on the spot, and follow up personally with everyone who leaves their details within 24 hours
Insight & Reporting
- Write five short field notes a week: what people actually said, in their own words
- Send a one-page monthly memo covering results, learnings and what did not work
- Take part in the weekly team stand-up and growth review
Safety & Messaging Standards
- Follow our claim sheet on everything you publish or say. We are a safety brand, so we never over-promise and never use fear-based messaging
- Raise any real safety disclosure from a user or community member with the team the same day, and never publish it
Requirements
- Currently studying or recently graduated in marketing, business, communications or a related field
- Able to commit to a minimum of 8 months, full-time
- Able to work from our New York City office 4 days a week
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Strong written and spoken English; Spanish or another language common in NYC is a plus
- Comfortable creating short-form video on a phone, including filming, editing and captions
- Confident starting conversations with strangers, and genuinely curious about people
- Organised, reliable, and able to log and follow up without being chased
Preferred
- Experience running or growing a student society, club or community group
- A public portfolio of content you have created (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or similar)
- Prior sales, retail, hospitality or customer-facing experience
- Familiarity with CRM tools and social scheduling tools
- Experience in an early-stage startup
Core Competencies
- Real conversation: leads with the person, not the product
- Craft: strong hooks, burned-in captions, vertical video filmed on a phone, one idea per video
- Reliability: ships daily, logs the same day and follows up without reminders
- Honesty: never over-promises, especially on a safety product
- Care: handles sensitive moments with warmth and passes them to the team
- Curiosity: notices what people say and brings it back to the team
Work Structure
- Full-time, on-site in New York City 5 days a week (4 days onsite and 1 day remote), reporting to the Supervisor
- Daily rhythm: ambassador conversations, one piece of content shipped, community replies, same-day logging and one field note
- Weekly: in-person activations, a personal check-in with every ambassador, one user story filmed and edited, and a team stand-up and growth review
- Monthly: a one-page memo to the team
What You Will Gain
- Direct exposure to sales, marketing and community building in a startup
- Real ownership of campaigns and a visible impact on growth numbers
- Regular one-to-one coaching with the Head of Growth
- A portfolio of work you can point to after the internship
Only qualified candidates will be contacted for next steps.
