Job summary

Upper Darby Township is seeking a detail-oriented Code Enforcement Inspector to uphold township codes through inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions. You will work with residents, property owners, landlords, tenants, businesses, and stakeholders to maintain safe, well-kept properties.

The ideal candidate has strong observational and communication skills, can work independently in the field, and is committed to fair, consistent enforcement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and ability to operate township vehicle.
• ICC Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector Certification or ability to obtain within five months of hire.
• Two years of experience in code enforcement or related field preferred.
• Experience with inspection software, permitting systems, and enforcement documentation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct rental property inspections, Use & Occupancy inspections, and property maintenance inspections.
• Investigate complaints and document violations.
• Issue notices, tickets, citations, and other enforcement actions; conduct follow-up inspections.
• Maintain detailed records, prepare reports and supporting documentation; participate in hearings or court proceedings as needed.
• Coordinate with township departments on enforcement initiatives and community improvement efforts.
