Job summary

Arlington Public Schools (MA) is seeking a Specialized Support Paraprofessional: Community Coach to help students access the community and work at program sites around Arlington and nearby communities.

You will identify community resources, create individualized schedules, and provide on-the-job coaching to support transition goals for students with disabilities. Collaboration with families and the Special Education Department is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of college experience.
• Related field experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and professional integrity.
• Ability to work with diverse populations with sensitivity and patience.
• Energetic, self-starter who can handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of work.

Responsibilities

• Identify resources and access services to help students reach employment and independent living goals.
• Cultivate natural supports within education, employment and community settings.
• Assist employers with workplace modifications and accommodations.
• Create individualized schedules based on interests, skills, and support needs.
• Foster student independence and develop daily community schedules.
• Provide on-the-job coaching and support for career goal achievement.
