Job summary

Avalon Housing seeks a Dunbar Tower Community Builder to support tenants at the Dunbar Miller Community Centers in Ann Arbor, MI. The role focuses on triage, crisis response, and coordinating on-site activities to build a thriving tenant community.

The position requires at least one year in human services, ServeSafe/CPR certification (or to be obtained after hire), and strong communication skills. Full-time salaried role with benefits and opportunities to make a difference.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in human services with homeless or similar populations.
• ServeSafe and CPR First Aid AED certification (can be completed upon hire).
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage tenants and coordinate activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide client triage and ongoing support to community tenants and build trust.
• Coordinate and promote on-site activities, mutual aid groups, outings, and events.
• Respond to tenant concerns and provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Manage the weekly food pantry and ensure the community center is welcoming and organized.
• Advocate for tenants and connect them with external resources; document as required.
• Attend monthly team meetings and regular supervision/goal planning.
