Join our team at Burrell Behavioral Health as a Community Behavioral Health Liaison in the Kansas City, Missouri area!

As a Community Behavioral Health Liaison, your primary responsibility is to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders to increase awareness and understanding of behavioral health issues in the community. You will conduct outreach and engagement activities to connect individuals to needed services, provide education and training to professionals and community members, advocate for policies and practices that support improved access to high-quality behavioral health care, assist clients with case management, coordinate program development efforts, collect and analyze data on program outcomes, respond to crises, and ensure cultural competence in all interactions and programming. Your role is to act as an advocate, educator, connector, and problem solver to improve behavioral health outcomes in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with healthcare providers, social service agencies, schools, law enforcement, and other community organizations to promote behavioral health awareness and education.
  • Conduct outreach activities to identify individuals needing services and engage them in appropriate care, including providing information about resources and making referrals.
  • Provide training and educational opportunities on topics related to behavioral health, such as mental illnesses, addiction, trauma-informed care, and recovery supports.
  • Advocate for policies and practices that improve access to behavioral health services and reduce stigma around mental illness and addiction.
  • Assist clients in navigating complex systems of care by coordinating services across providers and ensuring continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with partners to develop new programs and initiatives addressing community needs.
  • Collect data on program outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and inform improvements.
  • Respond to community crises related to mental health or addiction, including suicide prevention, overdose response, and crisis intervention.
  • Ensure all interactions and programming are culturally competent and inclusive, respecting diverse populations.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in psychology, social work, counseling, or related behavioral health field; qualified mental health professional.
  • Prefer LMSW, LCSW, PLPC, LPC credentials.
  • Ability to work independently, follow directions, and accept supervision.
  • Effective communication skills via phone and face-to-face.
  • Adaptability to changing demands.
  • Initiative and proactive action-taking.
