JOB TITLE: Children’s Community Mental Health Clinician, Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Program Services

LOCATION: Mission Clubhouse

REPORTS TO: Director of Behavioral Health

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Children’s Community Mental Health Clinician (CCMHC) will provide direct service, paraprofessional staff consultation, training and support for the afterschool youth development program. We seek a licensed or license-eligible clinician to serve as our CCMHC in a non-traditional, mental health setting, using an anti-racist, trauma-informed, community social work model. Our setting requires formal mental health skills (case management, assessment, individual & family therapy, referrals, etc.) and informal behavioral coaching, social emotional support, youth development and skill development. We are designed to bring mental health services to communities that wouldn't normally access support and are seeking a professional who will commit to the community. This is a Full Time Exempt position located in San Francisco and includes benefits.

KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES):

  1. Clinical Care (40%)
    • Provide individual, family and/or group therapy for youth
    • Provide clinical case management for youth
    • Develop, monitor, and implement treatment goals and interventions for all modalities of direct service
    • Perform accurate and timely record-keeping and documentation of all client related activities (e.g., assessments, progress notes and treatment plans)
    • Coordinate with mental health providers to identify treatment options for members
    • Work independently, demonstrate effective critical thinking, decision-making and risk reduction
    • Consult with clinical team (off-site) proactively and preventatively
    • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled client review meetings, clinical meetings, and staff meetings
    • Orient afterschool staff regularly on referral process
  2. Socioemotional Support (40%)
    • Facilitate living skills or social emotional programming for youth and families
    • Integrate supports into traditional youth development programming
    • Develop/increase accessibility to socioemotional resources available to youth and families
    • Familiarity with and ability to facilitate restorative practices
  3. Staff Capacity building (20%)
    • Lead case conferencing for paraprofessional staff team to coordinate services for youth members
    • Provide consultation to afterschool staff on mental health issues impacting children and youth Club members
    • Support school-based Clubs by providing consultation to staff on program structure and mental health issues impacting members, facilitating youth consultation and plan development for individual participants, providing linkages and referrals for youth.
    • Provide mentorship/supervision to students in compliance with graduate school and/or BBS requirements
    • Assist with the development and implementation of agency-wide mental health policies and procedures
    • Facilitate staff training regarding mental health issues, which affect youth and are helpful in the Clubhouse setting

SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Requires Masters (MSW/MA) from accredited school of Social Work, MFT or Psychology.
  • Must be licensed or registered with BOP or BBS.
  • Minimum one-year previous post-graduate experience providing individual & family therapy and case management with emphasis in youth services preferred
  • Basic understanding of youth development settings in an after school program
  • Experience working with high-risk adolescents and diverse communities
  • Criminal background clearance
  • Ability to move efficiently between locations
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification within 60 days
  • Able to work afternoon and evening hours
  • Bilingual Spanish required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to move about to accomplish tasks, particularly for events or moving from one Club to another.
  • Must be able to sit at computer workstation for long time periods
  • Able to pass required health screenings & testings (i.e. TB, COVID,etc.)
