Job summary

New Mexico Department of Health is seeking a maintenance worker to perform painting, tile work, grounds upkeep, plumbing, carpentry, and general custodial tasks across the CBS facility.

Duties include snow removal, salting for safety in winter, shelving repair, furniture maintenance, interior and exterior wall repairs, and cleaning. Ideal candidate has experience with weed eaters, mowers, and chainsaws; must have high school diploma and a NM driver's license with defensive driving certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and six months of experience in general building and grounds maintenance, custodial duties, construction, or appliance repair.
• Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience totaling six months may substitute for the required experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NM Drivers License.
• Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Perform painting, tile work, mowing grass, plumbing, carpentry, and custodial duties.
• Remove snow from grounds and salt ice for safety during winter.
• Repair and maintain furniture and interior/exterior walls throughout the facility.
• Clean and maintain the CBS facility and surrounding areas.

Why does the job exist?

This position is to provide work such as painting, tile work, cutting mowing grass, plumbing, carpentry, cleaning trash and helping around the facility.

How does it get done?

The job gets done by performing tasks such as: Removing snow from grounds, salt ice for safety purposes during winter months. Building shelves repair and maintain furniture in employee offices. Painting, patching, repairing and cleaning interior/exterior walls throughout the facility.

Who are the customers?

The job is done for the PSR clients, clients in therapy and for all the employees in the facility

Ideal Candidate

Experience in using tools such as weed eaters, 360 mowers, chainsaws. Have some knowledge in plumbing, welding, carpentry.

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or Equivalent and six (6) months of experience in general building and grounds maintenance, custodial duties, construction, or appliance repair. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid NM Drivers License.

Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.

Working Conditions

Working around the CBS facility. Working with some chemicals such as lacquers. thinners, paint, tile glue etc.

Bargaining Unit Position

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
