The University of Nevada, Reno Extension seeks a community-minded professional to join Pershing County as a Community Based Instructor 3. This is an in-person role based out of Lovelock, NV, focusing on youth leadership and workforce readiness by building connections with volunteers, families, schools, and local partners.
You will recruit and train volunteers, develop youth engagement strategies, and coordinate school-based and after-school programs.

The successful candidate will be passionate about working with youth, enjoy building relationships within the community, and possess strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

As a key member of the Extension team, you will coordinate and support a variety of youth development programs that enrich the lives of local youth and strengthen community engagement.

This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. This position requires candidates to complete a fingerprinting/background check.
Candidates with experience working with youth, volunteers, schools, community organizations, or after-school programs are encouraged to apply.
This position works a flexible, variable schedule based on program and community needs. Some evening and occasional weekend hours are required to support youth programs, volunteer training, and community events.

Grade 27 (Entry, Step 01). In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets.
