Job summary

City of Columbus seeks a prevention educator to deliver evidence-based prevention education and supportive services across schools and community settings. The role emphasizes culturally relevant, age-appropriate programs and collaboration with community partners to promote drug-free activities and overall wellness.

You will facilitate group sessions, engage with diverse populations, and prepare reports. Requires Ohio prevention credentials and at least one year working with at-risk groups;

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of prevention science evidenced by ongoing education toward CSAP strategies, IOM Model, and Strategic Prevention Framework.
• At least one year of experience with at-risk populations in educational or community settings.
• Experience with children and teens affected by addiction.
• Skill in facilitating small group discussions using evidence-based curricula (Too Good for Drugs, Safe Dates, Botvin LifeSkills, PAX Tools, Prime for Life).
• Experience working with diverse populations including immigrants, refuges, and individuals involved in the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based prevention education and supportive services in schools and community settings.
• Facilitate small groups, focus groups, and workshops aligned with culturally relevant approaches.
• Promote drug-free activities and disseminate health information to community members.
• Coordinate with schools and community leaders to design and implement prevention plans.
• Prepare monthly activity reports and coordination summaries.
• Communicate with individuals with limited English proficiency and participate in ICS or public health response teams if required.
