Job summary

Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service (inc) is seeking an Activity Specialist for Cornerstone NYCHA Community Center Programming in Brooklyn. The role involves delivering engaging activities for children, youth, adults, and seniors and requires supervision and multi-sensory activities.

The position supports a schedule with up to 25 hours per week during the school year and up to 35 hours per week in the Summer, with evening and weekend availability expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Some college education preferred.
• Background in arts (sports, music, drama, dance, photography, crafts, sewing, or the arts) is a plus.
• Must enjoy working with children.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Site Director and Assistant Director/On-site Supervisor to provide activities for children, youth, adults and seniors.
• Help implement multi-sensory lessons and activities to children within stimulating themes.
• Coordinate planning and preparation of activities and materials for daily schedule.
• Provide supervision to groups during classroom activities, snack, recreation and field trips, including evenings/weekends for middle/high school participants.
• Take daily attendance.
• Assist with developing and planning community events for children, parents and community.
• Oversee drop off/pick up of children following health and safety protocols.
• Outreach to parents and community to promote the program and events.
• Attend and comply with training requirements, including health and safety protocols.
• Other responsibilities as needed by site director.
