Job summary

This position will support a grant funded, community engaged research project focused on rural climate resilience. The anticipated end date for the project is December 31, 2027. As the project enters its final year, there’s a need to develop publicly-accessible materials to share project results and outcomes with community partners and to reach other communities that could benefit from this project’s output.

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Website maintenance and content generation
• Aiding project faculty and students to translate research findings into accessible content useful for decision-making at the local and state level, to include:
  • Development of infographics, illustrations, charts and figures to visually communicate concepts and/or results
  • Assist in drafting fact sheets and other outreach-oriented media
  • Shepherding materials through the OSU Extension fact sheet and/or reports approval process
  • Draft newsletters
• Content creation and management of project-associated social media
• Dissemination of video assets funded by the grant
• Aiding with data collection and analysis, particularly in Oklahoma (e.g., q-sort exercise)
• Support grant-funded Rural Scholars

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's in ag communications or related field.
  (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
• Demonstrated experience in communications, including, but not limited to social media, video, web, writing, editing and content creation.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

Valid driver’s license required

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

• Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and other digital content tools
• Expertise in optimizing websites and social media for search, answer and generative engines optimization (SEO, AEO and GEO, respectively)
• Understanding of climate change concepts and ability to translate scientific concepts for lay stakeholders
• Experience developing a newsletter and/or social media campaign to promote scientific information
• Personal experience with rural people and places

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's in ag communications or related field.
• One year experience in STEM-related public communications

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

Proficiency in LinkedIn content creation
Proficiency in the responsible use of AI tools for creating visualizations and research summaries.

Must be able to carry camera equipment (less than or equal to 30 lbs.) short distances (100 yards), carries one or more cameras for extended periods of times (less than or equal to 20 lbs. for events, up to 2 hours)
