Job summary

The City of Fort Worth seeks a Communications Specialist – Digital Media to lead digital campaigns, manage social media content, and support city communications.

The role requires a Bachelor's in communications or related field and 3 years of experience; preferred tools include Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva; bilingual candidates are encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in communications, public relations, marketing, digital media, social media management, journalism, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Digital media campaigns and social media education and promotion initiatives
  • Coordinates with communications staff to identify timely digital messaging opportunities and support paid social media advertising efforts, including placement of social media advertising buys when assigned
  • Develops and executes digital media and social media strategies; creates and schedules social media content; provides live event coverage and real-time content updates; writes captions and post descriptions; oversees social media platforms and digital engagement activities; and monitors platform performance
  • Produces weekly, monthly and executive-level digital media analytics reports; tracks social media performance metrics, engagement trends and audience growth; monitors emerging digital and social media trends; and recommends content strategies and platform optimizations based on data analysis
  • Monitors campaign performance and ensures digital content aligns with City branding, accessibility standards, and communication objectives
  • Collaborates with FWTV and Graphic Artists to produce digital media content in formats specific to the City’s social channels

Pay Range: $28.84 - $37.49/hr. | $59,984 - $77,979 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm; Some evening/weekend work required.


This is an in-person position and after probation may have the ability to work one remote day at the discretion of departmental needs.

A Communications Specialist – Digital Media job is available with the City of Fort Worth Communications and Public Engagement Department’s SHOP Division.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field

  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in communications, public relations, marketing, digital media, social media management, journalism, or a related field


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing digital media and social media strategies for an organization

  • Experience using social media management and analytics platforms such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or similar tools to monitor performance and produce reports

  • Proficiency with digital content creation tools, including Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar software for digital content development

  • Bilingual

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

  • Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
