  • You love writing and can craft clear, engaging content across newsletters, emails, and social media that communicates impact and tells a cohesive story.
  • You are highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities from start to finish.
  • You produce high-quality, complete work and take ownership of details to ensure everything is accurate and ready to go before it goes out.
  • You are proactive, anticipate needs, and step in to solve problems without being asked.
  • You are comfortable operating behind the scenes while contributing to visible, high-impact work.
About YouthRoots

Founded in 2010, YouthRoots is a statewide, youth-driven nonprofit dedicated to unleashing the power of youth to change the world. We equip young people to lead and influence decisions that impact their lives through initiatives like YouthScan, youth‑led grantmaking, and leadership development. By centering youth as knowledge holders and changemakers, YouthRoots bridges lived experience with decision‑making to drive more equitable and impactful communities.

About the Role

The Communications & Operations Manager is a part‑time role responsible for managing YouthRoots’ external communications and strengthening day‑to‑day operations.

This role ensures:

  • Our external voice is clear, compelling, and aligned with our impact
  • Our internal systems are organized, efficient, and reliable
  • Leadership and program teams are supported by strong coordination and execution

You will work closely with the Executive Director and program team, playing a key role in expanding organizational capacity.

Key Responsibilities
Communications
  • Plan, write, edit, and distribute a high‑quality monthly newsletter that tells compelling stories about YouthRoots’ youth, partners, and impact.
  • Create and manage social media content (calendar, writing, posting, and engagement)
  • Support storytelling across programs, including YouthScan insights and partner work
Operations & Coordination
  • Maintain internal systems, including contact lists, digital files, and CRM updates
  • Ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations across the team
  • Support event logistics and partner engagementsManage calendars, scheduling, and meeting coordination
