Job summary

The City of Conroe is seeking a Communications Officer to operate the city’s police communication center. You will receive and transmit messages via radio, phone, and teletype, handle 911 calls, and dispatch services as required.

Position requires working 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays; candidates should have at least a high school diploma and may need to pass written exams and a typing test. CJIS/NCIC considerations and background checks may apply.

Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY

Communications Officers shall be responsible for the operation of the communication center for the Conroe Police Department. These duties include, but are not limited to, receiving and transmitting messages via radio, telephone and teletype, receiving 911 emergency calls for service and dispatching calls for service. The position requires working 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required. One year of experience as a Communications Officer preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is sedentary and requires the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
