  • Develop branding materials, templates, style guides, and media release formats.
  • Provide coaching to staff to improve communication skills.
  • Represent the agency at conferences and community events.

Job description

We are seeking a creative, organized, and strategic Communications Manager to lead and strengthen the agency’s internal and external communications. This position will develop and implement communication strategies, manage digital and media channels, create engaging content, and help build and maintain public trust in the agency.

The ideal candidate is an excellent writer and communicator who can manage multiple priorities, work effectively with leadership and staff, and confidently represent the organization with media, community partners, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective internal and external communication strategies, procedures, and policies.
  • Work with leadership and team members to develop communication plans for routine communications and crisis situations.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, public announcements, talking points, letters, memos, and other business communications.
  • Respond to media inquiries and establish professional relationships with journalists and media outlets.
  • Develop press kits and other materials to support agency communications and public information efforts.
  • Manage and maintain external communication channels, including social media platforms and website content.
  • Create clear, accurate, and engaging written content and informational materials that support organizational goals and strengthen public trust.
  • Develop branding materials, communication templates, style guides, media release formats, and other standardized resources.
  • Provide coaching and support to staff to improve written and verbal communication skills.
  • Conduct communications research and monitor the effectiveness and progress of communication strategies.
  • Represent the agency at conferences, community events, task forces, workgroups, and other professional or public engagements as needed.
  • Participate in agency-wide activities, staff meetings, and special projects.Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in communications, public relations, media relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong copywriting, editing, and proofreading abilities.
  • Experience managing social media, websites, and other digital communication platforms.
  • Ability to develop professional communications for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills
