Job summary

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Joliet is seeking a Communications Lead to develop and execute an integrated communications strategy that enhances brand awareness, donor engagement, and community outreach.

You will supervise donor communications roles, manage content for print, digital, and social platforms, and oversee the agency's website while coordinating with the Development team to meet fundraising goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and content development skills across multiple formats.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Positive interpersonal skills with staff, clients, donors, and volunteers.
  • Experience with digital marketing strategies including website optimization, SEO, email marketing platforms, CRM systems such as Raiser's Edge, and data-driven campaign management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, Canva, WordPress and similar programs for content creation and communication.
  • Excellent public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Passage of complete background clearance and any required testing or clearances.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of liability insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the communications lead for the agency, developing and executing an integrated, mission-consistent communications strategy that drives brand awareness, donor acquisition, donor retention, and community engagement.
  • Supervise positions responsible for donor communications.
  • Contribute to the Development Plan as a member of the Development team.
  • Be the primary point of contact for external communication requests, translating information into clear messaging.
  • Create, write, design, and produce a high volume of communication materials across print, digital, and social media.
  • Oversee the Agency's website and social media accounts.
  • Evaluate communication performance using data and analytics and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Create and implement public relations and media relations plans, including press releases and media inquiries.
  • Manage vendor relationships for printing, design, and other services.
  • Ensure confidentiality standards, including HIPAA considerations, in all communications.
  • Coordinate communication strategies for fundraisers, events, and annual reports.
  • Direct internal and external communication plans related to strategic planning and change management.
  • Improve communication processes and workflows across the agency.
  • Other duties as assigned within the position guidelines.

General Responsibilities

  1. Serve as the communications lead for the agency, developing and executing an integrated, mission consistent communications strategy that drives brand awareness, donor acquisition, donor retention, and community engagement.

  4. Serve as the primary point of contact for external communication requests, working with program staff to gather information and translate it into clear, consistent messaging.
  5. Create, write, design, and produce a high volume of communication materials, including print, digital and social media content.
  6. Oversee the Agency's website and social media accounts.
  7. Evaluate communication performance using data and analytics, and adjust strategies to improve outcomes.
  8. Create and implement public relations and media relations plans to promote the Agency’s programs and services, including drafting press releases, responding to inquiries, and identifying opportunities for coverage.
  9. Manage vendor relationships for printing, design, and other services.
  10. Ensure compliance with confidentiality standards, including HIPAA considerations, in all communications and materials
  11. Coordinate communication strategies for fundraisers, events, and annual reports.
  12. Direct internal and external communication plans related to strategic planning, strategic action, and change management.
  13. Improve communication processes and workflows to increase efficiency and effectiveness across the agency.
  14. Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.
