Job summary

Orano USA is offering a Communications Intern position in Oak Ridge, TN. You will support development and implementation of communication strategies, write and edit external materials, and assist media relations for Project IKE, a major uranium enrichment facility.

The paid internship runs 2–months? 10 weeks from May 2027 to August 2027, with opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and exposure to real-world communications challenges in a high-stakes environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mass communications, journalism, public relations, media studies, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience or coursework in at least two of: communications, public relations, media, journalism.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with multiple workstreams.
• Familiar with using AI for communications tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Assist corporate community engagement with local schools, colleges, universities, and regional municipalities.
• Attend public meetings relevant to Project IKE.
• Write and edit external communication materials, including press releases, articles, social media posts, presentations, talking points, and website content.
• Support and attend regional events involving Orano’s Project IKE or corporate teams.
• Monitor and help manage the organization’s public image.
• Assist with media relations, including outreach and responding to media inquiries.
• Ensure adherence to Orano’s branding, messaging, image, and graphics requirements.
• Create and update internal communications content.
• Assess, compile and format actionable metrics.
• Perform special projects as assigned.
