Job summary

The Jewish Community Center Of Denver is seeking a Communications & Front Desk Manager for our vibrant preschool community. You will be the first point of contact for families, visitors, and staff, providing friendly, professional service and sustaining daily operations.

Responsibilities include managing enrollment documents, coordinating communications, supporting events, and overseeing front desk and kitchen areas.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in an educational or childcare setting preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and digital record-keeping systems: Campminder, Amilia, Brightwheel.
  • Proficiency in Canva to create flyers and posters for school events.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; multitasking ability.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture and traditions is a plus.

Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Communications & Front Desk Manager to join our vibrant Jewish preschool community. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, organized, and personable individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills. As the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and staff, the Front Desk Coordinator plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service, and operational and administrative support.

Administrative Support
  • Upload and track student forms such as enrollment forms, medical records, including immunizations, and other required documents using digital systems.
  • Be the point person to communicate with families regarding missing paperwork to maintain accurate records and databases related to student information, attendance, and inquiries.
  • Being a critical support for safety in the school, including monitoring Authorized Pick Up and checking authorized IDs.
  • Coordinate with the administrative team to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Coordinates and is responsible for closing the school each night.
  • Manage and track department expenses, including monitoring purchases and coding and submitting credit card reports.
  • Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date all-school inventory (including playground, teacher workspaces, kitchen, staff break room, and individual classroom lists) working with the Assistant Director of Programming & Licensing around purchasing.
  • Responsible for purchasing food and classroom materials for the school, including sourcing vendors, placing orders, and ensuring supplies are aligned with program needs and budget guidelines.
  • Responsible for making flyers and posters for upcoming events in conjunction with the JCC’s marketing department.
Communication
  • Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and greet visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Provide information about preschool programs, policies, and upcoming events.
  • Relay messages promptly and accurately to relevant staff members.
  • Assist with drafting and distributing newsletters, memos, and announcements.
  • As part of the ELS Administrative Team, coordinate all-school communications with families.
Event Support
  • Coordinate logistics such as venue booking, catering, decorations, and invitations.
  • Assist with promoting events through various channels and ensuring maximum participation.
  • Coordinate with other departments in the building to collaborate for events.
Other Duties
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the front desk area.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.
  • Assist with basic office tasks such as filing, copying, and data entry.
  • Adhere to confidentiality guidelines when handling sensitive information.
  • Will coordinate "Pizza Wednesday's" to manage the participant list, coordinating parent volunteers, and distribution of pizza and sides to classrooms.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar administrative role, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
  • The job requires individuals with strong written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital record-keeping systems, such as Campminder, Amilia, and Brightwheel.
  • Proficiency in Canva to create flyers and posters for school-related events and communications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture and traditions is a plus.
Physical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance)

Physical demands: The position requires the incumbent to remain in the sitting position for prolonged hours. While performing duties of job, employees are occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work environment: Working conditions may include being in an open (shared) cubicle/workspace area, loud working spaces with children yelling or cheering, and frequent interruptions.

Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, take initiative, cope with stress, adapt to and stay alert in a business environment.

Benefits Overview

Full-Time employees of the JCC are considered benefits-eligible.

The JCC contributes a portion of medical, dental, and vision plan premiums. The JCC proudly pays for 100% of Basic Life Insurance, AD&D, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability coverage for benefits eligible employees. We also provide additional voluntary benefit plans.

The JCC has a 401(K) Plan available for elective deferral contributions for employees over 21 years of age with no waiting period. The JCC matches 50% of employee contributions, up to 3%, on a 5-year vesting schedule.

Paid Time Off is a day-one benefit, accrued based on years of service and in compliance with Colorado Health Families & Workplaces Act. First-year, benefits-eligible employees may accrue up to 120 hours of Paid Time Off in their first year of service. The JCC also provides paid-holidays and benefits-eligible employees are awarded up to 6 additional "Floating Holidays" per year, prorated based on date of hire.

Full-Time employees are also eligible for a wide range of discounts, including the JCC’s Preschool and Summer Camp childcare programs, free and discounted tickets to Mizel Arts and Culture events, discounted program and class costs, and more!

Full-Time employees of the JCC receive a complementary family gym membership, which includes year-round access to the JCC’s fitness center and heated pool. All employees of the JCC are eligible to join the "JCCs of North America" (JCCA) community, which includes access to the JCCA’s resource center, ongoing professional development and networking opportunities, as well as educational stipends for qualifying employees.
