Job summary

Job description

The Communications Director is responsible for creating and executing the church’s communication strategy to help people connect with the church’s mission, ministries, and events. This role oversees digital communications, branding, media production, graphic design coordination, and promotional efforts across all church ministries. The Communications Director works collaboratively with ministry leaders to ensure clear, consistent, and engaging communication that supports the church’s vision.

Primary Responsibilities
Digital Communications
  • Manage and maintain the church website.
  • Oversee the church mobile app.
  • Develop and execute the church’s social media strategy.
  • Create and schedule social media content.
  • Monitor engagement and respond or direct inquiries as appropriate.
  • Produce email newsletters and other digital communications.
Content Creation
  • Edit and publish written, photo, and video content.
  • Coordinate photography and videography for church events.
  • Write copy for announcements, newsletters, web pages, and promotional materials.
  • Maintain consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels.
Church Calendar & Events
  • Maintain the master church calendar.
  • Coordinate communication for ministry events and church-wide initiatives.
  • Ensure events are promoted across all communication platforms.
  • Work with ministry leaders to gather event information and deadlines.
Graphic Design & Branding
  • Design or coordinate graphics for:
    • Sermon series
    • Ministry events
    • Social media
    • Website
    • Digital signage
    • Print materials
  • Develop templates that maintain visual consistency.
  • Protect and implement the church’s brand standards.
Ministry Support
  • Partner with ministry leaders to identify communication needs.
  • Assist ministries in promoting classes, events, outreach opportunities, and volunteer needs.
  • Coordinate print materials including:
    • Bulletins
    • Flyers
    • Brochures
    • Banners
    • Signage
  • Coordinate branded merchandise including:
    • T-shirts
    • Welcome gifts
    • Promotional items
    • Event materials
  • Work with outside vendors on pricing, production, and delivery.
Media & Technology
  • Maintain photo and video archives.
  • Coordinate livestream graphics and presentation media as needed.
  • Stay current with communication trends and digital tools.
