Communications and Marketing Coordinator

THE POSITION

The Park School Communications and Marketing Coordinator (C&M Coordinator) is responsible for coordinating and implementing Park School’s marketing plan for print, digital, radio, and other media in order to target and connect with relevant constituencies. A significant part of this responsibility is the effective management of the advertising budget. Year-to-year, the C&M Coordinator negotiates price, frequency, and placement of advertising, adapting to the competitive marketplace, and building and maintaining relationships in an ever-evolving media landscape. Beyond management of the advertising department, this position coordinates production of print and digital materials for the Communications office, Admission, Development, the Parents’ Association, the academic administration, and academic departments.

Devoted to intellectual inquiry, a collaborative spirit of learning, and an appreciation for the diversity of human experience, The Park School of Baltimore is a community founded on positive expectations of our students and respect for individual differences.

We cultivate children’s innate curiosity by nurturing their interests and engaging them as active participants in their own education.

We support young people in becoming confident questioners and responsible citizens of the world.

The Park School is a non-sectarian, independent, gender inclusive day school of 788 students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. Founded in 1912 as one of the early progressive schools, The Park School continues to practice a distinct educational philosophy. The core values today, as in 1912, are a belief in children’s capacity to love learning, to grow academically and emotionally when inspired by highly qualified, caring teachers, and to develop self-discipline, confidence, and creative problem-solving skills through deep exploration and constant challenge. At every grade level, from Pre-Kindergarten through Upper School, Park actively encourages questioning and conversation as essential elements of the learning process. The school philosophy emphasizes a belief in positive expectations and expects that students, as they mature, will take increasing responsibility for their own learning.

Other duties include the coordination of departmental workflow — ensuring the optimal effectiveness and excellence of the Communications and Marketing department’s support of outreach, admission, retention, and fundraising efforts.

  • Create, manage, and implement comprehensive multi-media advertising campaigns in concert with the Director of Communications and Marketing. Platforms include digital, print, radio (commercial and public), podcasts, neighborhood newsletters, online school review sites, and more.
  • Coordinate all-school multi-media buying, including negotiating rates for purchase of time/space with media sales representatives, negotiate high-value placements, and investigate new opportunities. Coordinate production and implementation of direct mail campaigns.
  • Build and maintain relationships with news media and publication representatives.
  • Responsible for creation and submission of online events to various electronic media outlets.
  • Identify opportunities for on-site advertising placement at Baltimore-area venues that provide marketing exposure for Park.

  • Web Content and Database Management — serve as part of team responsible for all aspects of managing content of the website: HTML coding, photo selection, resizing and uploading, page layout, and annual content updates to website throughout the year.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Communications and Marketing, support the effective and efficient operation of the department’s functions — including the implementation of new initiatives, responding to unanticipated challenges, and maintaining overall high caliber of work output.
Design
  • As needed, and in coordination with the Director of Communications and Marketing, create, size/re-size, and update designed materials (print and digital) across various platforms (Google, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Canva, etc.).
  • Maintain a schedule of design needs; fulfill as needed and/or do so in coordination with the Director of Communications and Marketing and, potentially, freelance designers.
