The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. seeks a Communications and Marketing Associate to enhance its online presence and manage strategic messaging for public safety awareness. This part-time remote role focuses on social media engagement, content creation, and data analytics, requiring strong communication skills and proficiency in graphic design. CALEA currently has an opening for a Communications and Marketing Associate (CMA). This part-time or contractual position is without benefits, averaging less than 28 hours of work each week. Compensation will be based on qualifications and hours worked; however, hourly earnings will generally range from $31-$35 an hour.
CALEA is a not-for-profit public safety credentialing organization that provides professional accreditation services for law enforcement agencies, public safety communication agencies, public safety training academies, and campus security organizations. CALEA has been in existence for over 40 years and is governed by a board of 21 Commissioners. More than 1,250 clients actively participate in CALEA programming, and the organization’s primary mission is to enhance public safety professionalism through the promulgation and administration of standards.
Requirements
Position Overview:
The position of CMA is a remote work position and serves as the facilitator of approved external messaging and oversees ongoing engagements on social platforms. The position will address organizational objectives through coordinated strategic messaging designed to improve public and public safety professional awareness of CALEA Accreditation. The position must be able to work independently and remain creative while implementing initiatives.

The position requires the ability to manage a social media content calendar for planning and scheduling posts in advance. The applicant must maintain a cohesive social media strategy across various channels to achieve high levels of user engagement and update advertising and strategies based on results and company needs.
The successful candidate will create, manage, and publish original and high-quality content across various social media platforms. The CMA will analyze data and metrics to create weekly and monthly reports on web traffic, user engagement, and Return on Investment (ROI).
Qualifications
Candidates must be proficient in using social media platforms such as, but not limited to Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Understanding search engine optimization (SEO) and web traffic metrics/analytics is necessary. The position requires excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Graphic design, photo editing, and publishing experience are required. Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Hootsuite, and Microsoft Office Applications is encouraged.
A bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in marketing or a related field is desired, but an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a remote office environment and manage all duties through virtual platforms. The position requires the candidate to be available during business hours at least twice weekly for scheduled check-ins. The candidate must have some graphic design experience with the ability to design for social, print, and web-based campaigns. The ability to identify target audiences’ preferences and produce tailored content is required for this position.
