Job summary

Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, part of the Diocese of St. Augustine, is seeking a Communications and IT Assistant to maintain the parish calendar, manage the website and social media, and create promotional materials.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience, be proficient in design tools and Microsoft Office, and possess excellent communication skills. Flexibility for evenings and weekends is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, information technology, or computer science preferred or 4 years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Computer expertise in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Communications and IT Assistant

Reports to: Pastor

Part Time

FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update an active parish calendar of events, ensuring all activities are accurately listed and promoted.
  • Manage and regularly update the parish website and all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) with engaging, timely, and faith-filled content.
  • Create and oversee online registration and event management systems for parishioners.
  • Utilize and maintain the MyParish App, including sending notifications, updating content, and encouraging parishioner engagement.
  • Design creative materials such as flyers, posters, banners, digital graphics, and email campaigns to promote parish events and ministries.
  • Create weekly Mass slideshows (PowerPoint or similar) including announcements, hymns, and prayer intentions.
  • Assist with photography and videography at major parish events for use in promotional materials.
  • Make recommendations for standardizing internal and external parish communications, ensuring consistency in branding and messaging.
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders, staff, and the pastor to effectively communicate parish news, initiatives, and opportunities.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred – ability to create bilingual communications is a significant plus.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, information technology, or computer science preferred or 4 years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency with design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.), experience managing social media, websites, and proficient in media editing software.
  • Computer expertise in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be familiar with the church and have knowledge of and commitment to Gospel values, Catholic moral and social teachings, and possess a sound working knowledge of Church hierarchy and Church structure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include making presentations, conducting research, proofreading, and editing.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, with strong attention to detail, and able to manage multiple projects.
  • Patient, courteous, tactful, responsible, and able to deliver information clearly.
  • Ability to project oneself in a positive, professional, sincere, and friendly manner with respect for the rights of others.
  • Must be flexible, innovative, and able to exercise independence in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information, exercise good judgment, and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to respect and value the cultural richness that makes up the Church and society and strive to celebrate commonalities and differences among various groups.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check and take a Protecting God’s Children workshop before beginning employment.
Language Skills

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
