Union Home Mortgage’s L.E.A.D. Internship Program’s goal is to provide a fun, interesting, and real‑world environment for our interns to Learn about the industry, be Educated by Sr. Leadership and their peers, Achieve their personal goals and Develop their skills and knowledge base. We pride ourselves in providing innovative programs for our interns in order for them to learn and grow they progress through their careers. Some of the programs we offer include: shadowing, mentoring, professional development, group projects and we even take our interns on corporate outings! Our internship program gives students a chance to meet new people, gain more experience, and learn from the best in the business! Our interns are treated like full‑time Partners who work 40 hours a week during the 3-month summer program, are compensated, and based out of headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio.

The Foundation Intern will assist in the management and administration of the company’s charitable foundation, corporate giving programs and volunteer events. Interns will leave with knowledge and experience of grantmaking, corporate social responsibility programs, event planning, and internal communications.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Overseeing and managing logistics for the Intern Day of Service, including but not limited to community outreach, event planning, volunteer coordination, and more
  • Researching and organizing individual and small group volunteer opportunities for employees in Cleveland and in other regions across the United States
  • Assisting with the planning and implementation of company events, including but not limited to annual gala fundraiser, donation drives and regional events
  • Preparing solicitation, thank you and grant agreement letters to be sent to donors and nonprofit partners
  • Collaborating with the Foundation with on-site visits and research of area nonprofits, as well as corporate social responsibility trends
  • Assisting with social media content planning and creation around community initiatives and internal events in coordination with the Marketing Department’s Social Media team
  • Writing or contributing to written corporate materials such as internal emails, corporate intranet, newsletter, and press releases
Qualifications

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and think independently
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Canva and/or grant processing systems preferred but not required.
  • Compelling writing skills
  • Event planning skills
Education & Experience
  • Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year college degree in Nonprofit Management, Human Resources, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field
  • Junior or Senior Standing
  • Experience volunteering and passionate about community engagement / charitable giving
  • Candidate must be enthusiastic, a self‑starter, be able to work in a group or independently, and be able to work in a fast‑paced environment
  • Experience working with donations/fundraising preferred.
