Abundant Life Church is a growing multi-site church in the mid-west with strong community outreach and influence. We desire to not just be a church “in the community” but rather to be “the community church”. We are currently renovating our third Campus with the expectation of opening in early 2025. Our broadcast Campus located in Kokomo Indiana has a new 1300 seat Campus with a Café we opened in 2024.
Job Summary
The Communications Director oversees all internal and external communication for the church, ensuring clarity, consistency, and excellence across every platform. They oversee all means of outward communication, including print, website, graphics, and social media. The communication director will guide all branding and presentation of each ministry area of the church. This role supports the mission of the church by crafting messages that reflect the heart, values, and vision of the ministry while equipping staff and volunteers to communicate effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Communication Strategy & Oversight
- Develop and maintain a unified communication strategy for all ministries
- Ensure messaging aligns with church mission, vision, and values
- Manage communication timelines, priorities, and workflows
Digital & Online Presence
- Oversee church website content, updates, and user experience
- Manage social media platforms with consistent branding and engagement
- Create digital campaigns for events, sermon series, and ministry initiatives
- Monitor analytics and adjust strategies for growth and reach
Branding & Creative Direction
- Maintain brand standards across all print and digital materials
- Oversee graphic design, visual identity, and creative assets
- Support ministries with branded materials and templates
Sunday Experience Support
- Create and manage slides, announcements, and service visuals
- Coordinate with worship, production, and pastoral teams
- Ensure clear communication of weekly priorities and events
Internal Communication
- Support staff with communication tools and best practices
- Manage all-staff emails, internal updates, and ministry communication flow
- Ensure clarity and consistency in cross-department communication
Content Creation
- Write and edit content for newsletters, website, social media, and print
- Develop scripts, talking points, and promotional messaging
- Oversee capturing stories, testimonies, and ministry highlights
Project & Team Management
- Oversee communication volunteers or creative team members
- Manage project timelines, approvals, and deliverables
- Collaborate with ministry leaders to support their communication needs
Special Projects
- Support communication and media needs for Easter, Christmas, Conferences, Trunk or Treat, Outreach Events and other Special Church Initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Media or related field (preferred)
- 3-5+ years of leadership experience in communication (church or nonprofit preferred)
- Strong graphic design skills with a portfolio of digital work
- Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Suite, Website Design (WordPress) or similar tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of church culture and ministry environments
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Alignment with church mission, values, and doctrinal beliefs
