Job summary

Maricopa County Department of Public Health seeks a Communicable Disease Investigator Senior to help reduce STI and HIV rates. You will conduct case investigations, interview contacts, and provide testing and education to clients, providers, the community, and staff.

The role supports chronic and communicable disease investigations, with opportunities for growth and professional development within the Public Health department.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience conducting health field investigations, community outreach, and/or case management.
• Bachelor's degree in health promotion, public health, medical technology, health sciences, or a health-related field.
• A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex case investigations and interviews to determine disease origin and transmission.
• Conducts a full range of investigations for chronic and communicable diseases.
• Interviews patients to obtain epidemiological information and determine contacts; may include home visits.
• Provides guidance to investigative staff and trains new personnel.

Full Pay Range: $28.00 - $39.00 hourly

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

As a Communicable Disease Investigator Senior, you will play an important role in our efforts to reduce the rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in Maricopa County! We will count on you to conduct case investigations, including identifying and interviewing contacts and providing testing recommendations and education to clients, medical providers, the community, and staff.

We Require

• Two years of experience conducting health field investigations, community outreach, and/or case management
• Bachelor's degree in health promotion, public health, medical technology, health sciences, or a health-related field
• A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

• Experience conducting confidential case investigations and patient interviews related to the transmission of communicable diseases
• Venipuncture experience
• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Job Contributions

• Performs complex case investigations and interviews to determine disease origin and method of contraction through contact with physicians, hospitals, and healthcare providers
• Conducts a full range of investigational activities for chronic and communicable diseases
• Interviews patients to obtain epidemiological information and determine contacts; may include conducting home visits and patient referrals to medical providers for diagnosis, treatment, and care
• Provides guidance to investigative staff for improving case investigation techniques and strategies, and trains new staff
