QUICK USA, the U.S. subsidiary of a leading Japanese agricultural product and food ingredient manufacturer, seeks an Interpreter / Commodity Trader in Schaumburg, IL.

The role blends commodity purchasing, interpretation, market research, logistics coordination, and team leadership in an international business setting. You will translate market insights from English into Japanese, manage storage and international shipments, pursue outside sales for new products, and mentor 3–4 junior

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional work experience
  • Experience at a bank, financial institution, or investment bank (Required)
  • Native/professional-level Japanese and English skills
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Experience in sales and training/mentoring, rather than pure back-office operations
  • Strong leadership potential and ambition to grow into an executive/management role
  • Willingness to relocate within Illinois as needed
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange and futures/options trading (Preferred)
  • Interest in agribusiness and international trade (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Purchase the required amount of grain at the best possible price, considering quality, grain type, and logistics
  • Interpret between Japanese and English during meetings between U.S. companies and Japanese management/personnel
  • Gather, analyze, and translate U.S. commodity market trends from English sources into Japanese
  • Coordinate, arrange, oversee, and record storage and transportation of purchased products to international delivery
  • Engage in international outside sales and business development for new products produced by the parent company
  • Manage 3 to 4 junior professionals

Position

Interpreter / Commodity Trader

Summary

The company is the U.S. subsidiary of a leading Japanese agricultural product and food ingredient manufacturer with a long-standing history.

They purchase agricultural commodities in the U.S. and export them to Japan through both Japanese trading companies and direct sourcing with U.S. grain merchants. The company also supports its parent company in global business expansion, research and development, and marketing of new products.

This role is ideal for driven individuals looking to challenge themselves in an international business environment and build an executive career path, with potential to become the future head/president of the U.S. operations. Responsibilities include commodity purchasing, interpretation, market research, logistics coordination, team management, and international sales.

Essential Duties
  • Purchase the required amount of grain at the best possible price, taking into consideration quality, grain type, and logistics.
  • Interpret between Japanese and English during meetings between U.S. companies and Japanese management/personnel.
  • Gather, analyze, centrally organize, and communicate U.S. commodity market trends from English sources, and translate them into Japanese.
  • Coordinate, arrange, oversee, and record all storage and transportation of purchased products from the point of origin to international delivery.
  • Engage in international outside sales and business development for new products produced by the parent company.
  • Manage 3 to 4 junior professionals.
Working Location

Schaumburg, IL

Willingness to relocate and travel frequently.

Working Hours, Working Style

Full-Time Position / Willingness to travel frequently

Willing to work for one hour in the morning Japan time for the handover.

Salary, Benefits

Salary: Annual income of $70,000 or more (commensurate with the candidate's experience and capabilities).

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of professional work experience
  • Professional work experience at a bank, financial institution, or investment bank (Required)
  • Native/Professional-level Japanese and English skills
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Experience in sales and training/mentoring, rather than pure back-office operations
  • Strong leadership potential and ambition to grow into an executive/management role
  • Willingness to relocate within Illinois as needed

Preferred Qualifications:
