Job summary

Nidec Aerospace seeks an experienced Commodity Manager – Electronics to lead strategic sourcing for PCBAs, electronics, and related components supporting electric propulsion systems. You will manage supplier relations, negotiate long-term contracts, and work across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Finance to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations).
  • 5+ years in commodity management, strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain within aerospace/electronics/industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience negotiating long-term supply agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships.
  • Experience sourcing electronic, electrical, electromechanical, or PCB assembly components.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, including SAP, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute commodity strategies for PCBAs, electronics, electrical, and mechanical components for aerospace propulsion systems.
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify and manage suppliers to build a competitive, scalable supply base.
  • Lead negotiations, supplier agreements, and long-term contracts to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Perform cost analysis using TCO, should-cost modeling, and market benchmarking.
  • Analyze industry trends to identify opportunities and mitigate risks in sourcing decisions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and New Product Development to support supplier selection and costings.
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, Engineering, and Program Management to ensure supply continuity.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and strategic partners.
  • Develop supplier improvement plans focused on quality, delivery, and cost competitiveness.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives through cross-functional collaboration.

Position Summary

Nidec Aerospace is seeking an experienced Commodity Manager – Electronics to lead the strategic sourcing and supplier management activities supporting our electric propulsion systems. This role is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), electronics, electrical, and mechanical components while ensuring best-in-class performance in cost, quality, delivery, and supplier reliability.

The Commodity Manager will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, Program Management, and Supply Chain teams to support both new product development and production programs. The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen, supplier negotiation expertise, technical sourcing experience, and a passion for driving continuous improvement in a rapidly growing aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute commodity strategies for PCBAs, electronics, electrical, and mechanical components supporting aerospace propulsion systems.
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and manage suppliers to ensure a competitive, scalable, and resilient supply base.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, supplier agreements, and long-term contracts to optimize cost, quality, delivery, and overall supplier performance.
  • Perform cost analysis utilizing methodologies such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), should-cost modeling, and market benchmarking.
  • Analyze industry and commodity market trends to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and support effective sourcing decisions.
  • Partner with engineering and New Product Development (NPD) teams to support supplier selection, component costing, and seamless transition from product development into production.
  • Collaborate with Production, Planning, Quality, Engineering, and Program Management teams to maintain supply continuity and support business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and strategic partners.
  • Develop and execute supplier performance improvement plans focused on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives through cross-functional collaboration and value engineering activities.
  • Support organizational growth by improving procurement processes, strengthening supplier capabilities, and enhancing supply chain performance.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management within aerospace, electronics, automotive, industrial manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating long‑term supply agreements and managing strategic supplier relationships.
  • Experience sourcing electronic, electrical, electromechanical, or PCB assembly components.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including cost modeling and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, including SAP, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, innovative environment while managing multiple priorities and driving continuous improvement.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting aerospace, electrification, propulsion, or advanced technology programs.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPIM, CPM, PMP, or equivalent.
  • MBA or advanced degree in a related discipline.
