Job summary

Mission Staffing's client, a multi-strategy hedge fund in Connecticut, is hiring a Commodities Operations Analyst for the Commodities & Futures team. The role provides middle-office support across the trade lifecycle for Oil, Power, and Natural Gas products, including futures, options, and swaps.

You’ll work closely with Trading, Risk, Valuations, and Portfolio Managers in a fast-paced setting. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years in operations or middle-office at a hedge

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related field.
• 2+ years in operations or middle-office at a hedge fund/asset manager.
• Experience with derivatives (futures, options, swaps) and energy exposures (Oil/Power/Nat Gas).
• Strong reconciliation and issue resolution experience.
• Advanced Excel skills and data accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage trade lifecycle events for commodity futures, options, and swaps.
• Perform daily reconciliations of trades, positions, cash, and P&L.
• Handle month-end bookings for expiries and close-outs.
• Resolve trade representation issues with trading ops and PMs.
• Escalate data issues to Technology and define process improvements.
• Maintain accurate trade, position, and reference data.

Job description

Our client, a multi-strategy hedge fund is looking for a Commodities Operations Analyst to join its Commodities & Futures team. The role provides middle-office support across the trade lifecycle for Oil, Power, and Natural Gas products, including futures, options, and commodity swaps. You'll work closely with Trading, Risk, Valuations, and Portfolio Managers. It's a fast-paced, hands-on seat for someone who enjoys solving operational problems and improving processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage trade lifecycle events for commodity futures, options, and swaps, including expirations, option exercises and assignments, futures rolls, swap resets, settlements, and cash flows
• Perform daily trade, position, cash, and P&L reconciliations, and resolve breaks with brokers, FCMs, clearinghouses, and OTC counterparties
• Handle month-end manual bookings for option expiries and futures close-outs
• Resolve trade representation issues with the trading ops team and Portfolio Managers
• Escalate application and data feed issues to Technology
• Identify process gaps and help define requirements to fix them
• Maintain accurate trade, position, and reference data

What they're looking for

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, economics, or a related field
• 2+ years of operations or middle-office experience at a hedge fund, asset manager, commodity trading firm, or bank
• Experience with commodity or derivatives products (futures, options, swaps); Oil, Power, and Nat Gas exposure is strongly preferred
• Hands-on reconciliation and break-resolution experience
• Advanced Excel
• Advent Geneva preferred; Bloomberg AIM, Orchestrade, or similar platforms are a plus
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
