Position Summary

The Commissioning Technician is responsible for deploying Oceaneering Mobile Robotics' (OMR) Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems. This role involves installing and commissioning new systems at company facilities and customer or supplier sites worldwide. The technician oversees the commissioning process, collaborates with project teams, tests and prepares systems during production, and handles final installation and software updates onsite. The role includes leading commissioning activities, ensuring systems are calibrated, tested, and functional, providing customer training and support, and occasionally assisting with system maintenance and remote troubleshooting.

Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL:

  • Execute technical activities as directed by project leaders at assigned sites.
  • Assist in organizing and leading commissioning activities at customer locations.
  • Lead software configuration, hardware calibration, fault diagnostics, and test trials.
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans in collaboration with project teams.
  • Analyze system performance data to meet specifications.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues through testing and observation.
  • Review technical documentation to troubleshoot system failures.
  • Provide onsite support and collaborate with remote engineers.
  • Report on technical progress and system performance.
  • Train customer technical staff and support system operation and maintenance.
  • Perform system repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and safety programs.
  • Be available to work mainly at customer sites, with travel within North America and abroad.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

ADDITIONAL:

  • Contribute insights from commissioning to product development.
  • Support engineering teams with technical feedback.
  • Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or Electronic disciplines.
  • At least 3 years in service, maintenance, or commissioning, especially with mechatronic or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience in developing and executing verification and validation plans.
  • Proficiency with software tools for configuring and troubleshooting PLCs and embedded devices.
  • Willingness to travel 60-75%, mainly within North America, with potential international work.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to acquire a passport.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

DESIRED:

  • Technical certification or degree in relevant fields.
  • Experience with Linux, scripting, automation, RDM software, and system integration.
  • Leadership or coordination experience at project sites.
  • Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365.
Additional Information

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mainly fieldwork, varying locations, PPE use, exposure to dust, working near moving equipment, and close collaboration with others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light work involving lifting, climbing, balancing, and repetitive movements, with accommodations available for disabilities.
