The GOR Group is seeking a Commissioning Specialist on behalf of our client to support factory-based testing, inspection, and documentation of data center hot aisle containment assemblies and associated power distribution systems.

This role works in a manufacturing environment where assemblies are built and validated before shipment to data center sites. The Commissioning Specialist will perform electrical testing, torque verification, quality inspections, and detailed documentation to verify that equipment meets safety and quality requirements and is ready for energization.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone with electrical and mechanical aptitude who is comfortable working around large assemblies and maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Testing & Verification
  • Perform insulation resistance testing, also known as megger testing, on busway systems before energization.
  • Verify continuity and insulation integrity across multiple busway runs within each assembly.
  • Document and validate test results according to commissioning procedures and standards.
Torque & Termination Verification
  • Perform final terminations and torque checks on busway tap boxes and electrical connections.
  • Use calibrated digital torque wrenches to electronically record torque values.
  • Apply anti-tamper paint to completed terminations to indicate verified torque.
  • Label and track torque values by tap box and assembly to maintain reporting traceability.
Quality Control & Inspection
  • Conduct final visual inspections of busway systems and hot aisle containment assemblies.
  • Verify alignment, levelness, fastener installation, and set screw placement.
  • Identify installation deficiencies and coordinate corrections with installation teams.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Download recorded torque data from digital tools to a laptop.
  • Review and organize torque and electrical test data for final commissioning reports.
  • Track equipment serial numbers, locations, and associated assemblies.
  • Upload completed documentation to SharePoint and designated project file systems.
Production Coordination & Safety
  • Coordinate testing activities with electricians and manufacturing teams.
  • Respond promptly to testing hold points to support production flow.
  • Clearly communicate discrepancies and testing issues to project leadership.
  • Follow all site safety requirements, testing procedures, and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Electrical or mechanical aptitude with hands-on field or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working with power distribution equipment such as busway, tap boxes, or switchgear.
  • Familiarity with torque procedures and electrical terminations.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and accurately document results.
  • Comfort working in an active industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision after training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience performing insulation resistance testing.
  • Exposure to data center or other mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Background in electrical maintenance, commissioning, or quality assurance.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training.
  • Experience using checklists, test plans, or commissioning documentation.
Safety Requirements
  • Wear steel-toe or composite-toe footwear.
  • Wear safety glasses at all times.
  • Wear a bump cap.
  • Maintain awareness of forklift traffic and other activities within the manufacturing environment.
Schedule & Pay Expectations
  • Typical work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Overtime may be available based on production needs but is not guaranteed.
  • Once committed to a workweek, the specialist will be paid for the full week regardless of daily utilization.
Training & Support
  • On-site training provided by senior commissioning personnel.
  • Access to documented procedures, quick-reference materials, and testing guides.
  • Ongoing support from project leadership as needed.
