Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Commissioning & Energy Specialist to contribute to commissioning and energy projects in a hybrid work setting. You will engage in QA/QC testing, equipment start-ups, and coordination with clients and contractors to ensure high-performance outcomes.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in commissioning, design, or construction management, broad knowledge of mechanical/electrical/building envelope systems, and willingness to travel up to 50% for multi-week field assignments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of building code requirements.
  • US Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform commissioning activities including testing (QA/QC, Functional Performance), equipment and systems start-up to meet design requirements and stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate with Jacobs clients, project stakeholders, and contractors to achieve best outcomes for the owner/client.
  • Support energy projects including audits, efficiency studies, and renewable energy development.

The Commissioning practice within the Advisory Solutions group is comprised of architects and engineers providing specialty services to support our clients and projects. As a Commissioning & Energy Specialist on our team in St. Louis, you will participate in both onsite and office activities to support Commissioning and Energy projects.

You will have the opportunity to lead and perform all commissioning related activities to include testing (QA/QC, Functional Performance), equipment and systems start-up, resulting in a safe and functional environment that meets established design requirements and stakeholder expectations. Projects that you will engage with will include commissioning for new construction and renovations, existing building commissioning, as well as asset management projects.

You will have the responsibility of working directly with Jacobs clients, project stakeholders, and contractors to achieve the best possible outcome for the owner/client with a focus on operational performance and efficiency. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in energy projects including audits, efficiency studies and renewable energy development focused on improving performance for clients.

Here’s what you'll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in commissioning, design or construction management with a focus on mechanical, electrical, plumbing or building envelope systems
  • Working knowledge of building code requirements
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to travel up to 50% - Travel may include multi-week field assignments and periodic long-term assignments may be required

The base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $148,700.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
