Responsibilities

• Build and improve spreadsheet models and calculators.
• Develop commissioning and retro-commissioning checklists and test protocols.
• Write clear Cx reports and present results to clients and stakeholders on time.
• Keep up with new technology and industry trends.
• Improve internal efficiency through better tools and processes.

Job description

Our client needs a Commissioning Specialist who is good at finding what's broken and fixing it. You'll run commissioning projects from start to finish. Most are new construction. Some are due diligence reviews or tenant fit-outs.

The work covers complex HVAC, electrical, and controls systems, including data center power. You'll work directly with clients, own quality on your projects, and deliver on time and on budget. The pace is fast, and there's steady support for conferences and industry certifications.

What You'll Do

• Observe construction, review contract documents, and write functional test plans for mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, including data center electrical
• Set up test equipment, run performance tests, and analyze the data
• Support engineering teams on MEP commissioning and energy consulting for complex local and national projects
• Build and improve spreadsheet models and calculators
• Develop commissioning and retro-commissioning checklists and test protocols
• Write clear Cx reports and present the results to clients and stakeholders on time
• Keep up with new technology and industry trends
• Improve internal efficiency through better tools, technology, and processes

What You Bring

• 5+ years of commissioning experience
• Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and specifications
• Solid understanding of sequences of operations
• Working knowledge of condenser water plants, chiller plants, and boiler plants
• Working knowledge of building management and controls systems
• Experience on large properties
• Strong project management skills, with several projects running at once
• Advanced Excel and strong Word skills
• Attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
• A drive to keep learning
• Ability to travel up to 60%

Nice to Have

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent technical or construction experience
• PE license
• Knowledge of power and large-scale generation systems
• Electrical design experience
• Cx credentials such as CCP, CBCP, EBCP, or CEM, a LEED credential, or a DOE-recognized certification
• Commissioning experience on both new construction and existing buildings
• Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
• Familiarity with LEED, building codes, and energy and sustainability standards
