Commissioning Manager | Mission Critical / Data Centers
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Salary:$150,000–$200,000 base
Tiello has partnered with an established commercial general contractor seeking a Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning for large-scale data center and mission-critical projects.
This position will oversee the full L1–L5 commissioning process, from preconstruction planning through integrated systems testing and final owner acceptance. The ideal candidate brings a strong general contracting background and hands‑on experience coordinating complex building systems, trade partners, and commissioning teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning planning, execution, testing, and turnover for hyperscale data center projects.
- Develop commissioning schedules, testing plans, and readiness requirements for each stage of the L1–L5 process.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and specialty systems with project teams, subcontractors, and third‑party commissioning agents.
- Manage system readiness, deficiency tracking, corrective actions, and schedule recovery to protect critical testing milestones.
- Oversee functional performance testing, integrated systems testing, and full facility acceptance testing under load.
- Lead owner meetings and commissioning reviews, communicating progress, outstanding issues, and testing results.
- Partner with preconstruction and design teams to address sequencing and system coordination early.
- Manage final commissioning documentation, owner training, and project turnover.
Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of commissioning experience on mission‑critical or data center projects with a general contractor.
- Hands‑on experience delivering full L1–L5 commissioning programs.
- Proven experience leading functional testing, integrated systems testing, and facility acceptance testing in hyperscale or enterprise data centers.
- Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems, critical infrastructure, redundancy, and system troubleshooting.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and third‑party commissioning agents.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong communication, organization, and client‑facing leadership skills.
Preferred Experience
- Projects for hyperscale clients such as AWS, Microsoft, Google, or Meta.
- Tier III/IV or equivalent data center environments.
- Multi‑building campuses and concurrent commissioning programs.
- Primavera P6, Procore, BIM 360, and commissioning management platforms.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE Guideline 0, NEBB, and BCA standards.
