Job summary

Gilbane Building Company seeks a Commissioning Manager - Data Center to oversee the entire commissioning process for critical data center systems, ensuring performance before go-live. You will lead planning, testing, and handover, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams across projects.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 10–12 years of data center commissioning experience, with excellent communication and the ability to manage schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of data center systems incl. power, cooling, HVAC, and IT equipment.
• Able to manage schedules, budgets, change orders, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage all stages of commissioning from planning to handover.
• Create commissioning plans, schedules, test procedures, and checklists.
• Ensure facilities meet design specs, safety standards, and performance.
• Serve as main contact between teams, clients, vendors, subcontractors.
• Prepare documentation: inspection reports, test results, final certs.
• Conduct tests including functional and site acceptance testing.

Responsibilities

• Manages all stages of commissioning process, from initial planning and design reviews to final testing and handover
• Creates commissioning plans, schedules, test procedures (like IET and IPVT/IST), and verification checklists
• Ensures the facility and its systems comply with design specifications, health and safety standards, and performance requirements
• Acts as the main point of contact and manages communication between various teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
• Prepares and manages all necessary documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and final certification documents
• Performs and oversees various tests, such as functional testing and site acceptance testing, to verify system performance
• Trains direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasks
• Manages workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standards
• Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members
• Aids in communicating company and department strategy to direct reports

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
• 10-12 years of data center commissioning experience
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

This position can be performed remotely or from any U.S. location where Gilbane has an office. Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

The pay range is $98,880.00 - $211,970.00 plus benefits and retirement program plus benefits and retirement program.
