Job summary

Hatch Ltd. is seeking a Commissioning Intern to support planning, testing, and development activities within the Business Practices Consulting group from our Houston, TX office.

You will assist with pre-commissioning and commissioning efforts, contribute to test plans and procedures, and help optimize commissioning processes while collaborating with global teams. This is an in-office role with flexibility to work remotely when needed.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning planning and setup activities.
• Provide technical support for testing and data collection during the pre-commissioning and commissioning phase.
• Assist in technology development initiatives including investigating alternate and supporting commissioning software.
• Support technology initiatives to improve the efficiency of the commissioning process and provide new perspectives on execution approaches.
• Assist in developing test plans and commissioning procedures.
• Participate in field testing and troubleshoot/optimize equipment that is not performing.
• Process the test results, data collection, progress measurement and documentation of results.
• Support development of commissioning estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, commissioning proposals and presentations.
• Coordinate with construction planning teams to align commissioning systems with work packages, engineering and procurement.
• Review P&IDs, Flow Diagrams, SLDs, Network Architecture Drawings and engineering registers to prepare an execution plan and estimate to execute pre-commissioning and commissioning services and identify opportunities for project acceleration.
• Assist in establishing the commissioning requirements for pre-fabrication and modularization.

Hatch is seeking a Commissioning Intern. Reporting to theBusiness Practices Consulting group, you will support offices globally working from ourHouston, TXoffice location.

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Support commissioning planning and setup activities
• Provide technical support for testing and data collection during the pre-commissioning and commissioning phase of the project
• Assist in technology development initiatives in the group including investigating alternate and supporting commissioning software
• Support technology initiatives to improve the efficiency of the commissioning process and a different perspective on approaches to execution
• Assist in the development of test plans and commissioning procedures
• Participate in field testing and troubleshoot/optimize equipment that is not performing
• Process the test results, data collection, progress measurement and documentation of results
• Support development of commissioning estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, commissioning proposals and presentations
• Coordinate with construction planning team to align commissioning systems are coordinated with construction work packages, engineering and procurement
• Review P&IDs, Flow Diagrams, Single Line Diagram, Network Architecture Drawings and engineering registers to prepare an execution plan and estimate to execute pre-commissioning and commissioning services and identify opportunities for project acceleration
• Assist in establishing the commissioning requirements for pre-fabrication and modularization

You bring to the role:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Experience using Visio or similar tools to communicate commissioning sequence, organizational charts and workflow processes is an asset
• Effective report writing skills, planning and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel to various Hatch offices, project, and supplier sites subject to project requirements
• Previous co-op or internship experience in project execution, commissioning, or construction on industrial projects is considered an asset
