Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Tampa, FL is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Field Specialist to join our MEP team. This is an on-site, non-remote role supporting commissioning, testing, and startup activities for HVAC, Plumbing, and electrical systems.

The ideal candidate will perform quality checks, coordinate with contractors, and document field observations while producing field reports that verify compliance with project specs. Strong field experience and effective communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical construction.
• General Knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing/piping, BMS controls & lighting systems.
• Experience with CAD/BIM software and engineering calculation tools is a plus.
• Documented commissioning training from a nationally recognized body is a plus.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Construction Management knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for a Mechanical Commissioning Field Specialist to join our MEP team in the Tampa, Florida (FL) office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Provide commissioning related services for MEP engineering projects during construction phases.
• Perform quality checks and inspections on installed systems.
• Test, calibrate, and troubleshoot hardware, sensors, and control panels.
• Track project progress, complete checklists, and log deficiencies or punch lists.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and project managers during startup.
• Write field reports and verify compliance with project specifications

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical construction
• General Knowledge of in the following disciplines HVAC, Plumbing/piping, BMS controls & lighting systems
• Experience in computer operation and the ability to learn engineering calculation programs and computer-aided drafting/BIM software for the purpose of accessing and interpreting design requirements, is a plus.
• Documented commissioning training from a nationally recognized professional body, is a plus..
• High School Diploma or equivalent
