Job Description
The Commissioning (Cx) Room Ready Field Engineer will manage the sign off process for all project punch list items to ensure that each room is ready for commissioning. The engineer collaborates with subcontractors and craftspeople to address completion of all punch list items.
Location
Fully onsite at the project located in Boise, ID.
Salary
$85,000 - $120,000 DOE + Incentives
Responsibilities
- Oversee subcontractors and vendors installed work daily to ensure that they are maintaining their installation schedule, supporting system startup and commissioning activities.
- Work within the project Commissioning database program, including importing and exporting data related to Room Ready reports.
- Electronically distribute Room Ready punchlist to subcontractors and track activities through to completion.
- Schedule Room Ready field walks with subcontractors and client personnel.
- Verify all documentation is complete.
- Organize, ensure completion, and file record documents.
- Store and retrieve information using a computer and other handheld electronic hardware.
- Access all areas and levels of the construction site for work progress review.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedules and sequences.
- Provide clear communication verbally, in writing, and electronically.
Essential Physical Functions
- Combination of standing, walking, and sitting throughout the workday.
- Must be able to climb stairs about 40% of the day.
- Constant use of hands and fingers for computer use.
- Visual acuity in near, mid, and far ranges; color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and hand/eye coordination required.
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversational levels in person, on the telephone, and the radio; to hear alarms on equipment.
- Sufficient speech to be heard in person, to speak in front of groups, and to be understood over the telephone and radio.
- Lift and carry up to 20 lbs. (Computer/drawings minimal).
- Minimal bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Maintain constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Work independently, make quick and effective decisions, and follow through on all assignments to meet required schedules.
- Use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem‑solving skills to determine the best method to accomplish desired results.
- Plan and organize work efficiently for maximum outcome.
- Possess strong organizational and computer use skills and an elevated level of competency in reading, writing, and speaking English, interpreting construction‑related documentation, and communicating with coworkers.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all aspects of construction.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or an equivalent degree and/or field work experience required.
- Education background in materials and methods of construction.
- Minimum of three years of commercial building experience required.
- Specific experience in industrial and/or hi‑tech semiconductor projects is preferred.
- Experience organizing technical data in a neat and accurate manner; familiarity with the CSI specification system for construction.
- Ability to work closely with trade and craft people in a field work situation; patience and professionalism essential to maintaining a cooperative attitude through pressure situations.
- Skills in handling several work activities at once while frequently interrupted by phone calls and urgent questions on work in progress.
- Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques.
- Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work closely with project owners, architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Dedicated team player, self‑starter, flexible, and able to work well with a variety of personalities and minimal instruction; able to remain calm in high‑pressure situations.
- Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Bluebeam.
- Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E‑Builder, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
