Job summary

Hoffman Construction Company seeks a Commissioning (Cx) Room Ready Field Engineer to manage the sign-off process for project punch list items and ensure room readiness for commissioning. Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree or equivalent field experience in construction-related disciplines.
  • Experience with construction documentation reading and CSI specs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Room Ready punch list sign-off and ensure room readiness for commissioning.
  • Maintain project commissioning database and import/export Room Ready data.
  • Distribute Room Ready punch lists to subcontractors and track completion.
  • Schedule Room Ready field walks with subcontractors and client personnel.
  • Verify documentation is complete and filed.
  • Organize and file project records and drawings.
  • Use computers and handheld devices for data storage/retrieval.
  • Access all site areas for progress reviews and work within schedule.
  • Be flexible with extended hours or off-shift work as schedule requires.
  • Communicate clearly in verbal, written, and electronic forms.

Job description

The Commissioning (Cx) Room Ready Field Engineer will manage the sign off process for all project punch list items to ensure that each room is ready for commissioning. The Commissioning (Cx) Room Ready Field Engineer will collaborate with subcontractors and craftspeople to address completion of all punch list items. This position is fully onsite at our project located in Boise, ID.

Salary: $85,000 - $120,000 DOE + Incentives

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee subcontractors and vendors installed work daily to ensure that they are maintaining their installation schedule, support system startup and commissioning activities
  • Work within the project Commissioning database program including importing/exporting data related to Room Ready reports
  • Electronically distribute Room Ready punchlist to subcontractors and track activities through to completion
  • Schedule Room Ready field walks with subcontractors and client personnel
  • Verify all documentation is complete
  • Organization, ensure completion and filing of record documents
  • Information storageand retrieval using a computer and other handheld electronic hardware.
  • Must be able to access all areas and levels of construction site for work progress review
  • Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences
  • Provide clear communication verbally, written and electronically
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is combination of standing, walking, and sitting
  • Legs: Must be able to climb stairs - 40% of day
  • Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use
  • Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid, and far range. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination
  • Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone andradio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipment
  • Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone and radio
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 20lbs. Computer/drawings - minimal
  • Bending/Twisting: Minimal
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Minimal
  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Must be able to work independently, make quick and effective decisions, and follow through on all assignments to meet required schedule
  • Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine the best method to accomplish desired results
  • Must be able to plan and organize workefficiently for maximum outcome
  • Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have an elevated level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction related documentation and communicate with coworkers
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all aspects of construction
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent degree and/or field work experience required
  • Education background in materials and methods of construction
  • A minimum of 3 years of commercial building experience required
  • Specific experience in industrial and/or hi-tech semiconductor types of projects is preferred
  • Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method. Familiar with CSI specification system forconstruction
  • Ability to work closely with trade and craft people in a field work situation. Patience and professionalism are essential to being able to maintain a cooperative attitude through pressure situations
  • Skills in handling several work activities at once while frequently interrupted by phone calls and urgent questions on work in progress
  • Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to work closely with project owners, architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Must be a dedicated team player, self-starter, flexible and be able to work well with a variety of personalities and minimal instruction. Must be able to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Must be able to physically access all areas and levels of construction site for work progress review.
  • Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.
  • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Bluebeam
  • Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner(P6)
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Naviswork
