Job summary

PCL Construction, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead and coordinate startup and commissioning activities from system start-up through final handover.

You will work with project teams, subcontractors and vendors to ensure safe, efficient commissioning and on-schedule delivery of complex systems across West Coast projects, with travel as required. Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3+ years of startup and commissioning experience for industrial or water/wastewater systems.
• Strong knowledge of Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) and Systems Integration.
• Experience with project planning, scheduling, and commissioning tracking systems.
• Ability to travel to project sites and work in multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform on-site startup and commissioning activities for assigned systems and subsystems.
• Develop, maintain, and update the commissioning schedule and rolling lookahead plan to align with project milestones and resource priorities.
• Review and control component and system test documentation, ensuring compliance with design intent and contract requirements.
• Provide technical support during installation, startup, and functional testing phases, identifying and resolving issues in real time.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure commissioning readiness and system handover.
• Track progress and proactively communicate schedule impacts, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Ensure all required documentation, test forms, and turnover packages are completed accurately and submitted on time.
• Support the Commissioning Manager in maintaining project status reporting and stakeholder coordination.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration on site.
