Amazon Data Services, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support design reviews, Factory Witness Testing, and management of third‑party commissioning vendors for AWS data center electrical and mechanical systems.
You will coordinate with AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams to ensure on‑time completion of commissioning milestones, while maintaining safety and quality standards across projects.

The Commissioning Engineer (CxE) is responsible for supporting vendors, contractors, and other teams involved in the construction and commissioning of various systems such as:
As the Commissioning Engineer, you will provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. This includes reviewing design documents and equipment submittals, leading Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and managing third‑party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite pre‑functional, functional, and integrated systems testing.
You will own your projects’ successes, deep‑dive to resolve technical issues, and maintain a bias for action to address schedule impacts and coordination demands onsite. You’ll share lessons learned to drive team growth and program improvements. You’ll provide multi‑discipline input into scheduling, test script development, design, and planning, and continuously audit vendor activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
Following the AWS project reporting format, you will be responsible for regular reporting of commissioning progress and metrics of assigned projects to your Regional Commissioning Manager. You will have the opportunity to lead several projects simultaneously to achieve key milestones and deliver data center capacity while managing project budget as approved by Finance.
A typical project involves coordinating site activities across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring each issue has a clear path to resolution. When project turnover is at risk, you’ll escalate to appropriate stakeholders. Upon completion, you’ll communicate lessons learned and participate in initiatives that drive improvement to the commissioning program.

The base salary range for this position is $105,100.00 – $157,300.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
