Job summary

Amazon’s AWS Data Center Commissioning Team seeks an experienced Electrical/Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to lead testing and validation of data center infrastructure, coordinating with engineering and contractor teams to deliver reliable, high‑quality performance across multiple sites in Austin, Dallas, and Houston.

The role requires travel up to 80% domestically and internationally; US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning experience for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to review mechanical or electrical design documents, drawings, specifications, and vendor submittals and provide feedback aligned with Amazon standards.
• Develop and review commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts, and vendor reports to ensure accuracy per design requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities

Physical Requirements

About the Team

The AWS Data Center Commissioning Team (ACx) is a wholly independent business within the DCGS organization, composed of veteran professional Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Controls Engineers, Architectural Engineers, Project Managers, Operators, and seasoned Amazonians. The team provides deeply detailed engineering, operational review, and testing of equipment designs, operational functionality, and construction practices, focusing on rapid delivery of quality products with full transparency.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning experience for electrical and mechanical systems.
• High technical competency in mechanical, electrical, or control systems used in critical infrastructures, with ability to learn others.
• Ability to review mechanical or electrical design documents, drawings, specifications, and vendor submittals and provide feedback aligned with Amazon standards.
• Develop and review commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts, and vendor reports to ensure accuracy per design requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint.
• Strong communication skills, detail oriented, highly organized, and able to work in high‑stress environments while maintaining calm and respectful interaction with multiple teams.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures.
• Ability to read and edit construction documents (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications).
• Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components based on design intent and approved equipment submittals.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this position is: 116,800.00 – 160,000.00 USD annually (Austin, Dallas, Houston). Your Amazon package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
