The S&C Companies seeks an experienced Commissioning & Startup Engineer to support large construction projects across North America. You will help ensure electrical and mechanical systems are tested, commissioned, and handed over to operations.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on commissioning experience, strong reading of drawings, and ability to coordinate with construction teams, vendors, and leadership. Travel to project sites will be required.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
• Minimum 5 years in commissioning, startup, construction engineering, maintenance, or industrial operations.
• Experience on large-scale industrial, data center, power, manufacturing, or mission-critical projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical or mechanical building systems and commissioning procedures.
• Ability to read specifications and technical documentation; strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel across North America for major projects.

Responsabilidades

• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, system testing, and turnover activities on large construction projects.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering, vendors, and operations teams to ensure systems are ready for startup.
• Conduct system walkdowns, develop punch lists, and evaluate system readiness.
• Develop and execute commissioning procedures, startup plans, and testing documentation.
• Support functional performance testing and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Troubleshoot electrical or mechanical system issues during commissioning and startup.
• Track deficiencies, coordinate corrective actions, and verify system performance.
• Manage commissioning documentation, testing records, and turnover packages.
• Monitor commissioning schedules, milestones, and project progress.
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project safety and quality standards.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning & Startup Engineer to support large-scale data center, mission-critical, and industrial construction projects across North America.

This role will play a key part in ensuring complex electrical and mechanical systems are safely tested, commissioned, and successfully turned over to operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical or mechanical background, hands‑on commissioning experience, and the ability to work closely with construction teams, engineers, vendors, and project leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, system testing, and turnover activities on large construction projects.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering, vendors, and operations teams to ensure systems are ready for startup.
• Conduct system walkdowns, develop punch lists, and evaluate system readiness.

Electrical Commissioning Experience

Candidates with an electrical background should have experience with some of the following systems:

• Medium- and low-voltage power distribution
• Switchgear and transformers
• Generators and UPS systems
• Electrical controls and monitoring systems
• Protective relaying and grounding systems
• Electrical acceptance testing and system energization
• Integrated Systems Testing (IST)
• Mission‑critical electrical infrastructure

Mechanical Commissioning Experience

Candidates with a mechanical background should have experience with some of the following systems:

• Commercial and industrial HVAC systems
• Chilled water and hydronic systems
• Cooling towers and heat rejection systems
• Process cooling and utility infrastructure
• Pumps, piping, and rotating equipment
• Mechanical equipment startup and troubleshooting
• Flushing, hydrotesting, and leak testing
• Mechanical system performance testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent field engineering, commissioning, or startup experience may be considered.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commissioning, startup, construction engineering, maintenance, or industrial operations.
• Experience with large-scale industrial, data center, power, manufacturing, or mission-critical projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical or mechanical building systems.
• Experience with commissioning procedures, functional testing, and system turnover.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple trades, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Willingness to work on major construction projects across North America.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with mission‑critical power and cooling infrastructure.
• Experience supporting Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Experience with large industrial contractors or EPC construction projects.
• Knowledge of commissioning documentation, completions management, and system turnover processes.
