Job summary

The Building People is actively seeking a Commissioning & Energy Engineer to support building commissioning and energy audits for federal and commercial facilities nationwide. The role emphasizes HVAC, BAS programming, and energy data analysis, with opportunity for growth within a dynamic project team.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of relevant experience, a foundation in HVAC systems, and is comfortable working across multiple building environments. Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

• Two to three years of relevant experience, preferably with an HVAC focus.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) programming.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits.
• Ability to collect field data and support energy audits.

Responsibilities

• Assist commissioning activities across project types and systems—including auditing, baselining, benchmarking, implementation support, and M&V.
• Collects field data (equipment nameplate information, operating schedules, utility bills, and system conditions) to support ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits.
• Supports senior engineers in programming HVAC equipment, VFDs, and lighting schedules.
