The Building People, LLC is seeking a Commissioning & Energy Engineer to support building commissioning and energy audit services for federal and commercial facilities across the United States. The role emphasizes data collection, BAS programming, and energy analysis.

Candidates typically have 2–3 years of experience in building operations, a Bachelor's in engineering, and familiarity with energy standards. Travel up to 50% is required, with background checks and possible security clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• Experience in building operations and maintenance.
• Strong data collection and analysis skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and support federal/commercial sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist commissioning activities across project types and systems.
• Collect field data (nameplates, operating schedules, utility bills) to support ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits.
• Support energy end-use breakdowns, savings-to-investment ratios, and M&V.
• Assist in programming HVAC equipment, VFDs, and lighting schedules.
• Contribute to drafting and consolidating documentation for commissioning and energy audit activities.
