Job summary

Syska Hennessy Group in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Mechanical C Commissioning Agent II to lead testing, validation, and commissioning of large mechanical systems in critical facilities.

You will coordinate plans, review criteria, and direct 1-2 engineers and cross-functional teams, leveraging ASHRAE guidelines. PE or commissioning cert preferred; LEED knowledge is a plus; strong communication and leadership required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field; experience commissioning large systems.
  • Minimum 6 years of field experience in hands-on testing, validation, and troubleshooting of large mechanical systems.
  • 2+ - 8+ years of relevant experience in the MEP field.
  • Understanding of proper system selection.
  • Awareness of LEED principles in building designs.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes.
  • Experience with ASHRAE, BCxA, PECI Cx and RETRO-Cx procedures; professional engineer or commissioning cert preferred.
  • PE or commissioning certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate Commissioning Plans, consistent with ASHRAE Guideline O format.
  • Develop and coordinate functional testing of multi-stack equipment and multi-redundant system configurations.
  • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning; provide feedback.
  • Lead commissioning efforts with multiple trades and client management involvement.
  • Write Operating Procedures and technical instruction material.
  • Oversight of 1–2 engineers on projects.

You will demonstrate your Commissioning skills and by leveraging the firm’s technology centric competitive edge you will work with design engineers, vendors, contractors, and client personnel to test, make operational, optimize, and validate mechanical systems in multiple 24x7 mission critical plants, healthcare, power generation or similar environments.

Job Responsibilities

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate Commissioning Plans, consistent with ASHRAE Guideline O format.
  • Develop and coordinate functional testing of multi-stack equipment and multi-redundant system configurations within a trade.
  • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to commissioning and provide a peer review level of feedback.
  • The ability to lead commissioning efforts with multiple trades and client management involvement
  • Technical writing ability to create and Operating Procedures and Technical instruction material
  • Oversight of 1 - 2 engineers on projects reporting to them
Job Requirements

To succeed in this role, your experience would include commissioning of large Mechanical systems for industrial, data center, commercial, operations center, high-rise and healthcare type facilities. Your technical strengths must be complemented by self-motivation, relationship building skills, and effective communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or required years of experience, including the commissioning of large distribution systems for industrial, data center, commercial, operations center, high-rise and healthcare type facilities.
  • A minimum of 6 years of field experience in hands-on testing, validation, and troubleshooting of large Mechanical systems
  • 2+ - 8+years of relevant experience in the MEP field
  • Possesses a basic understanding of proper system selection
  • Exhibits a basic understanding of the practical application of LEED principles to building designs
  • Exhibits a thorough understanding of applicable codes
  • Experience with ASHRAE, BCxA, and/or PECI Cx and RETRO-Cx procedures and protocols, a plus
  • PE or recognized commissioning certification preferred.
