Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) seeks a Commissioning Agent for Data Center projects in Washington, DC. You will lead commissioning activities to ensure energy-efficient, reliable mission-critical systems and support owners, contractors, and engineers.

You'll apply Level 1–5 commissioning processes, conduct field tests, review design and specifications, and travel ~75% to sites. A BS in engineering and 5+ years of data center experience are required; OSHA certification is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of commissioning experience for data center or mission critical facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline; equivalent experience considered.
• Understanding of power distribution, cooling, and controls.
• Ability to work independently without the need for oversight.
• Proficiency with commissioning process and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop Level 1–5 commissioning process delivery per OPR and BOD.
• Oversee and execute quality observation and testing in the field.
• Lead commissioning activities to ensure energy-efficient, reliable systems.
• Travel as required by projects (75%+).

As a Commissioning Agent - Data Center in our Washington, DC office, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all. You will help us empower our data center clients to trust in the reliability of their mission critical systems to preserve data, protect assets, and save lives. You'll also lead efforts to achieve energy-efficient building solutions and help operators improve their ability to safely and effectively manage the data center. You will work in a multi-disciplined and cross-trained team of commissioning professionals in a team-oriented atmosphere. Why We Need You:

In this role, you will be responsible for resolving commissioning challenges and completing tasks assigned, including developing and implementing the Level 1 - 5 commissioning process delivery set forth in Owner's Project Requirements (OPR), Basis of Design (BOD), plans and specifications. You will oversee and execute the quality observation and testing in the field.

Expertise of our most successful Commissioning Agent:

• Minimum 5 years of commissioning experience for data center or mission critical facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline or equivalent; a combination of education, technical training, and relevant field experience will also be considered
• General understanding of building systems across all design disciplines. A more detailed understanding of power distribution, cooling systems, and controls desired.
• Understanding of applicable design codes, design standards and specification requirements, and ability to interpret them.
• Able to work with a high degree of independence without the need for oversight or mentoring.
• Fundamental knowledge of commissioning process and commissioning process delivery.
• Ability to become proficient with software programs for business as well as could-based commissioning and construction:
  • Microsoft Word, Excel
  • CxAlloy
  • Autodesk BIM360, ACCBuild, and similar.
• Ability to travel as required by the project 75%+
• Willingness to become OSHA certified.
• Valid driver's license and state required vehicle insurance.
