Job description

BGIS is currently seeking a Commissioning Agent to join the team as a Remote position in the US.

We are looking for individuals to commission mission-critical equipment systems such as power generation and distribution systems, uninterruptible power supplies, static transfer switches, PDU's, BAS & BMS systems, and HVAC equipment. The candidate must have a working knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical systems or equivalent industry experience, along with proven customer service skills. Experience with industrial-level generators, UPS, HVAC, and power conditioning equipment is a plus. The candidate should be technically competent with test equipment like AC/DC amp probes, digital voltmeters, phase rotation meters, battery conductance testers, battery load testers, and micro-ohm meters. This role requires a minimum of 75% travel, including national and/or international travel.

The position is primarily remote but may require travel to client locations for training, meetings, and other in-person events.

Responsibilities

• Perform design reviews of systems.
• Develop, oversee, and write startup and commissioning policies and procedures.
• Ensure QA/QC of equipment installation.
• Perform construction observations and develop functional test plans.
• Execute tests on electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring conformance with standards and procedures.
• Assist in training plant operations and maintenance personnel.
• Act as liaison with vendors and subcontractors for problem resolution and testing.
• Review data and prepare technical reports.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and project team members.
• Manage small to mid-size projects to meet client expectations regarding technical excellence, budget, and schedule.

Required Education, Knowledge, and Abilities

• 7+ years of experience in electrical power distribution or mechanical systems, or both. AA degree, military training, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience diagnosing and solving construction and operational problems.
• Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to work in high-stress environments, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to guide others.
• Knowledge of building codes and industry standards.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Must have or be able to obtain a passport.
• Proven proficiency as a Commissioning Engineer, with 5+ years in the field including performance contracting.
• Proficiency in BCA, PECI, and/or ASHRAE commissioning procedures.
• Preferred experience in hospital, biotech, data center, and energy analysis sectors.
• Ability and willingness to travel 75%.
• Personal transportation for off-site meetings and visits; reimbursement provided.
